The COVID-19 pandemic changed the work of nurses around the world and highlighted their vital role in the improvement of patient health. Nurses have been on the frontline since the pandemic hit, working longer hours, under more intensive workloads, in constantly changing environments that have only recently become clearer and more manageable. While we have all appreciated the work of nurses throughout the pandemic, it’s important to remember that nurses were, and still are, caring for COVID patients alongside all the other patients they would normally be caring for as well. It has become clear that investing in nursing and respect the nurses’ rights is to be prioritised for a healthier, person-centred care and higher quality health system in Australia and around the world. Palliative Care NSW would like to say “Thank you” to all of our Palliative Care Nurses across NSW. You can find a compilation of stories that showcase the incredible work of nurses around the world following this link on the ICN website #IND2022 #VoiceToLead |
