An opportunity for a vibrant, enthusiastic, and confident Nurse to step into the Clinical Nurse Specialist role within our growing palliative care team.
The CNS2 will demonstrate expert knowledge and clinical skills in the field of palliative care nursing. This is a full-time role, based within the inpatient setting working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team.
- The Palliative & Supportive Care Team comprises of 4 Palliative Care Consultants and 2 Clinical Nurse Specialists working collaboratively with Medical Oncology/Radiation Oncology and our extensive allied health team
- The CNS role provides essential supportive care to our patients their families and carer’s
- Respond to symptom control issues promptly, evaluate interventions with fellow nursing colleagues and medical team, advocate for adjustments as required
- Ensure streamline communication with Community Palliative Care Teams to facilitate a comprehensive yet timely discharge
- Strong ability to deliver patient centred compassionate care
Essential Criteria
- Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Association (AHPRA)
- Minimum 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience
- Demonstrated professional knowledge and expertise in in specialist palliative care
- Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in specialist palliative care clinical practices including assessment, planning and management and clinical leadership and ability to provide professional education support
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Commitment to achieving excellence in quality through continuous improvement
- Ensure completion of timely and accurate documentation in line with professional and service requirements

The Transitional Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Practitioner is educated and endorsed to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role. The TNP/NP role includes assessment and management using nursing knowledge and skills. Summary of Role
Staff Specialist Palliative Care works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare in Performing the clinical duties of a staff specialist in palliative care as determined by the LHD Director of Palliative Care. The position is primarily based within the Southern NSW Palliative Care Services and if necessary, involves assistance with the delivery of inpatient, outpatient and community clinical palliative care services; implementation of and participation in palliative medicine education, research and quality improvement projects; participation in other activities related to the delivery of excellent palliative care.
The essence of this role:
- Provide demonstrably high-quality specialist Palliative Care services to patients across Southern NSW LHD
- To maintain personal professional competence in Palliative Care
- To work within healthcare teams and with other senior medical staff in a cooperative and collegiate way, evidencing the Mission, Motivation and Mission-in-Action of HammondCare
- Undertake teaching of medical students and trainee doctors, and undertake research in Palliative Care as opportunities present

What you’ll be doing
The Nurse Practitioner/Transitional Nurse Practitioner (NP/TNP) extended practice role includes, comprehensive assessment, interpretation of diagnostics, implementation of treatment modalities and relevant referral skills applied to a broad range of challenging, complex, and changing situations within the Supportive and Palliative Care Services.

They are conducting a 60-90 minute focus group study and are interested in hearing from a range of healthcare staff about the experiences of providing end-of-life care to people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) background who experience cancer; and the factors that impact delivery of quality of end-of-life care to them.
