It was announced by the state minister for regional health that Tamworth Hospital will have a stand alone unit for Palliative Care and the bed capacity will be at least doubled.
This announcement is part of the state wide $93 Million fund, which means not only the expansion of the unit but also the increase of staff required to meet patients needs.
In the meantime two new sustainable units are now available in the Hunter New England district to house visiting health staff.
