A Simpler Way to Stay Connected: NSW’s New Program for Seniors and Carers

Navigating support services can often feel overwhelming, especially for older people and those caring for them. The NSW Government has launched the Connecting Seniors and Carers Program, a new pilot initiative designed to make it easier to access the right help.

The program is part of the Ageing Well in NSW: Seniors Strategy 2021–2031, and it is aimed for older people and carers to stay connected, informed and supported within their local communities.

Delivered through trusted local community organisations, the program offers a welcoming first point of contact, removing the stress of having to navigate complex service systems alone.

Whether you’re unsure where to begin or need help planning ahead, this program is about putting you in touch with the right support.

How the Program Helps

Trained workers will take the time to understand your individual situation and guide you through your options.

Support includes:

  • Provide clear information and practical advice about aged care, palliative care and local supports
  • Help you work out what services you may need now and, in the future
  • Assist with referrals and connecting you to the right providers
  • Offer early support to prevent issues becoming overwhelming
  • Support you through life transitions, such as new caring roles, changes in health, or planning ahead
  • Help you feel more confident, informed and less alone in your caring role

The goal is to help you feel more confident, supported, and connected.

Who is it for?

The program is available to:

  • People aged 60+ (or 50+ for Aboriginal people)
  • Carers of older people, of any age
