The 2018 ACI Research Grants Scheme will be fully allocated in the reminder of the 2018 financial year with total funding of $100,000 across 5 or more projects up to a maximum of $20,000 each.

The ACI says:

Please note funds must be transferred from the ACI Research cost centre in total by June 30th 2018. If the funds cannot be expended by 30th of June, a partner organisation will be required (eg University, research organisation, PHN etc) to hold funds across financial years or some other arrangements made.

This round of funding is focused on supporting translational projects and cross-network projects that span across more than one ACI Clinical Network, Taskforce or Institute.

These projects should reflect the ACI research priorities. ACI’s strategic priorities and research priorities are articulated in the ‘Responsible Governance, Management and Conduct of Research: An ACI Framework’ found on the ACI website.

ACI’s translational priority has implications for research design and methodology. Generating knowledge and putting knowledge into practice requires different theories and methods. Research studies submitted to ACI are therefore expected to be multi-method studies, deploy realist evaluation, and draw on disciplines and theories from both the clinical and health sciences, and the organisational and social sciences.

Note: it is a requirement that there is written support for a project from the relevant Network, Taskforce or Institute of the ACI before a project will be considered.

What the Network needs to assess is:

  • Is this research important to the work of the network (eg filling a gap in the evidence around translation)?
  • Is this a priority for the network right now, and will the network allocate some ‘resources’ (Manager time, Exec time, etc) to this project amongst the other things the network has prioritised?

Successfully funded projects are expected to provide progress reports, and to present their progress and findings at specially convened ACI forums.

The closing date for applications is COB Friday 6th of April and applications are to be sent to ivana.goluza@health.nsw.gov.au . If you face any difficulties whilst completing this form please contact Ivana Goluza Riddell on 0409 289 642 or email ivana.goluza@health.nsw.gov.au.
