Why wait to dry out in July or to shave your mo in Movember? This April is shaping up as the time to have a soul and do something with it.
Firstly, there is Easter Sunday on 1 April. Traditionally celebrated as a time of reconciliation it’s a great time to shake off the mean feels about someone and make up. Even if they don’t deserve to be forgiven you deserve to be free of the toxic and destructive emotions that have the potential to activate certain diseases if we don’t attend to our emotional wellbeing. Activate forgiveness instead. Why not phone a friend and get sorted. It’s a super way to kick off April.
By the way the 5th International Conference of BASS & 6th European Conference on Religion, Spirituality & Health (ECRSH) is themed Forgiveness and Reconciliation in Health, Medicine and Social Sciences (17-19 May 2018 in Coventry, UK).
Also, Palliative Care NSW’s Volunteer Support Services Programme are holding a free Spirituality and Reflective Practice Forum at Mt Druitt on 16 April to bring health practitioners and volunteers together. Come along and be involved. Another forum is scheduled for Port Macquarie on 2nd May. Contact us for more information.
Next, the Byron Bay Spirit Festival (20-22 April) is themed Nourish your Spirit and invites you to yoga, chant, dance and meditate your way through a packed 3 day program. Meditation has powerful health benefits, with studies like this one in the Lancet recommending meditation as an important second line treatment to lower back pain.
What will you be doing in April to nurture your soul?
The tragedy of modern man is not that he knows less and less about the meaning of his own life, but that it bothers him less and less. Vaclav Havel, 1988
