Palliative Care NSW announces the resignation of our esteemed Chief Executive Officer, Linda Hansen as she embarks on a new chapter in her career. Effective 10 July 2023, Ms Hansen will be stepping down from her role as CEO of PCNSW to assume the CEO role at Palliative Care ACT.
During Linda’s tenure, PCNSW has experienced remarkable growth, solidifying its position as the Peak Body for Palliative Care in the most populous state in Australia. Under Linda’s guidance, the organisation has consistently expanded its presence in the palliative care space, enhanced its relationships with members and stakeholders and fostered a productive culture of innovation and collaboration.
Linda has played a pivotal role in prioritising palliative care within the health sector. Establishing and developing transformative initiatives, such as the Volunteer Support Services Program and forging strategic partnerships with research and community organisations to ensure the equitable provision of palliative care in NSW. Linda’s unwavering commitment to excellence, strong leadership, and relentless pursuit of growth opportunities to support members and stakeholders has been instrumental in shaping the organisation’s trajectory for nearly two decades.
Reflecting on her time at PCNSW, Linda expressed her gratitude, saying, “It has been an honour and a privilege to lead such an exceptional team at PCNSW; to work alongside such a dedicated board of experts on the Management Committee, and have been endlessly supported by our broader member base during my time here. Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones and created a culture of innovation and excellence. I am so very proud of what we have accomplished, and I have full confidence in the capabilities of the talented individuals who will continue to drive the strategic vision of PCNSW far into the future.”
“I am very excited to be taking on the new role with Palliative Care ACT during a time of heightened interest in the end of life space there and with a number of exciting initiatives coming on line”, she said.
As Linda transitions to her new role, she remains deeply committed to the ongoing success of PCNSW and will provide support during the transition period. The Management Committee will initiate a comprehensive search for a new CEO, considering both internal and external candidates, ensuring a seamless transition of leadership.
President of PCNSW, Felicity Burns expressed her appreciation for Linda’s significant contributions, stating, “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Linda for her outstanding leadership and tireless dedication to palliative care in NSW. Under her guidance, the organisation has achieved remarkable growth and success. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours and know that she will bring the same level of passion and excellence to her new role.”
As PCNSW moves forward, our commitment to palliative care in NSW remains unwavering. We are confident that our strong leadership team, coupled with the remarkable talents of our employees, will continue to propel PCNSW toward a bright and successful future.
