A new Palliative Care Medical Outreach Service is due to commence in Goulburn.
The Palliative Care Medical Outreach Service, commencing Thursday April 26, will complement existing palliative care services in Goulburn, providing consultation and expert medical advice and support in both community and hospital settings.
The outreach service will help people live their life as fully and as comfortably as possible when living with a life-limiting or terminal illness. The Southern NSW Local Health District signed an agreement with Western Sydney Local Health District for the provision of palliative care medical services. The services will include monthly visits from a Palliative Care Physician and after hours support.
The doctors from Western Sydney will work closely with Goulburn Health Service palliative care nurses, hospital staff and general practitioners.
They will provide expert support and advice for the care of people in Goulburn and surrounding districts who experience difficult problems as they approach and reach the end of life.
“This is a great initiative for the health services in the Goulburn area,” said the Southern NSW Local Health District palliative care program manager, Jacky Clancy.
“We welcome the expert physicians from Sydney to our medical facilities, and look forward to working with them in the palliative care space.” Enquiries: 02 4827 3913
