Changes to the Management of Community Palliative Care Services in Western Sydney

The NSW Government announced on March 12th that community palliative care services in the Western Sydney Local Health District will be brought back to the public domain.

Silverchain’s contract will end on June 30 and will not have an option for extension beyond its completion, however patients are assured that they will continue to receive high-quality 24/7 palliative care at home, with an expansion to more individuals in Western Sydney.

The NSW Government has noted this as an opportunity to enhance community palliative care services in Western Sydney and have backed this by doubling the investment in palliative care in Western Sydney Local Health District by next financial year from $1.36 million per annum in 2022-23 to $2.6 million in 2024-25.

The local health district will collaborate closely with Silverchain to ensure a seamless transition.
