The Story Project: Biography Services for children in palliative care

The story project is a free service that provides people the chance to record their story.

Patients are more than their medical story, with the biography, they get to have a story about their whole life.

Trained biographers volunteers are matched with families and over 8 sessions at hospital or at home, they interview them and then transform those stories into a book.

Patients can find it therapeutic while describing their lives and the people that support them through their journey.

Biography service is usually offered to adults in Palliative care but Sydney Children’s hospital has made it available for families and children in Palliative Care with Sarah Potter as their volunteer coordinator.

The service is also available at Westmead and Randwick Children’s Hospitals as well as at Bear Cottage in Manly.
