Opportunity to contribute to a travel grant fund to support rural nursing attendance at the 2020 Palliative Care NSW conference in honour of Coral Marks
Coral Marks has been a palliative care champion and leader across regional and rural NSW and Victoria for over 30 years. Throughout this time, she was a staunch advocate and enabler for optimal care for people with palliative care needs, and their families. In addition to this, Coral was an incredible mentor and colleague to nurses across the States of both NSW and Victoria and her work informed understanding at regional, State and National levels. Sadly, Coral died suddenly on Feb 15, 2020 and as colleagues and friends learnt of this devastating news, countless words of appreciation for Coral and her life’s work in palliative care were shared. Many were keen to honour Coral and her work within palliative care and the suggestion of enabling contributions to support rural palliative care nursing attendance at the Palliative Care NSW Conference in November 2020, in lieu of flowers, was made. Palliative Care NSW have kindly offered to support the management of funds related to this on everyone’s behalf.
If you would like to contribute to this travel grant in Coral’s name, you can simply transfer the funds to Palliative Care NSW noting ‘Coral’ in the subject line. Palliative Care NSW will collate the donations made and then circulate an expression of interest to access grant funds for rural nurses who support patients with palliative care needs (and their families) from NSW and Victoria.
