Palliative Care New South Wales Incorporated (PCNSW) is an incorporated association governed by a voluntary Management Committee. We are now inviting nominations from PCNSW members to join the Management Committee for the next 2-year term (December 2024 – December 2026).
The Management Committee is an important part of the PCNSW leadership team, providing strategic guidance and support to deliver on our vision and purpose, our current and future programs and projects, and our important advocacy work. As an incorporated Association, committee members also have an important governance role, ensuring that we act in accordance with our constitution and the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 (the Act).
Skills, Experience & Attributes
We are seeking forward-thinking, enthusiastic and collaborative members, who will bring a diversity of skills, experience, qualifications and attributes to the organisation. This committee should be reflective of the diversity of skills and expertise required to deliver quality palliative care in any setting, from the clinical to the non-clinical.
In addition, skills and experience in governance, strategy, digital transformation, AI, policy, advocacy, financial management, member engagement, community engagement, or palliative care volunteering would all be welcome. Members from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and rural and remote areas are encouraged to apply.
This committee is suitable for both first-time management committee/board members and for those with more experience. You will be supported wherever you might be in your leadership journey.
Essential requirements
- You must be available to attend monthly 90-minute online committee meetings and any other strategic meetings as required. Papers for meetings are distributed electronically before to allow members to prepare.
- You must be a current financial member of Palliative Care NSW to nominate, and remain a financial member for the duration of your term.
Expectations
- Be a representative voice on behalf of members and the sector, ensuring that the organisation remains relevant and effective in the present and into the future.
- Actively contribute to the development and ongoing review of the strategic plan and to be a strategic leader who can help drive improvements and innovation across the organisation.
- Support PCNSW programs, events and activities as required. This may include chairing professional network meetings, presenting at events etc. This is a great opportunity for us to showcase your skills and experience in a specific areas.
- Provide timely feedback to the CEO and Deputy CEO on advocacy and policy issues, campaigns.
- Represent PCNSW at meetings and other relevant events as required.
- Disclose any conflict of interests and ensure that your position as a committee member is not used dishonestly.

- Up to seven (7) General Members
Felicity Burns was elected as President-Elect in 2023, and will therefore continue as President until December 2026.
Term
- Two-year term (December 2024 – December 2026)
- There is no maximum on the number of terms a committee member can serve.

Election
If more nominations are received then positions available, the election will occur during the PCNSW Annual General Meeting to be held on Thursday 5th December at 5:30pm (online).
