About the opportunity
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (Supportive Care) is an expert nursing role that provides clinical leadership across all aspects of supportive, end?of?life and palliative care within NSW Ambulance. The CNC works closely with the Manager, End of Life and Palliative Care, to develop and implement policy, guide practice improvement, and lead statewide education and capability?building initiatives for paramedics. The role supports sustainable practice change through evidence?based guidance, innovative education models, train?the?trainer approaches, and effective change management strategies.
Please note: This is a temporary full time position for a period of six (6) months, commencing upon appointment and continuing up to 30 June 2026, with the possibility of extension.
About You
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following experience and capabilities:
· Establishing a new state?wide role, education leadership, change management and sustainability.
· Ability to translate complex clinical principles into practical, pre?hospital?specific guidance suitable for paramedic practice.
· Strong understanding of how paramedics learn in operational environments, including constraints related to shift work, geography, and workload.
· Proven capability in train?the?trainer models, including identifying, developing, and supporting local champions, educators, or peer leaders.
· Ability to build education and capability frameworks that are scalable and sustainable, rather than reliant on a single subject?matter expert.
· Demonstrated experience leading and supporting clinical practice change within large, complex, and geographically dispersed organisations.
· Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and support clinicians and educators.
· Demonstrates senior clinical leadership behaviours, including visibility, professionalism, and advocacy for best?practice supportive care.
· Ability to evaluate education and practice outcomes using both qualitative and quantitative measures.
· Provides senior clinical leadership to enhance the quality, consistency and sustainability of supportive and end?of?life care delivered by paramedics across NSW Ambulance
