How Palliative Care NSW is managing coronavirus/COVID-19

We want to give you an update on how Palliative Care New South Wales is managing Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The health and well-being of people living with a life limiting condition, their families, their communities and the health workforce are our number one priority.

PCNSW has decided to:

  • postpone face to face programs and events for the next three months and are aiming to offer these online or via video link whenever possible.
  • provide all support to our members and respond to enquiries via email or by phone.

At this stage, we intend to operate like this until the start of June, but the situation is constantly changing so we’ll keep reviewing these plans.

This means that the Professional Education Day normally held during National Palliative Care Week will not go ahead. We will look to host this day in July or August if at all possible.

The Conference for Managers of Palliative Care Volunteer Services which was to be held in Orange and scheduled for June 22 & 23 has been tentatively postponed until 7 & 8 September.

PCNSW is working closely with NSW Health, Palliative Care Australia and the other states/territories to ensure consistency of messaging, reduction of anxiety and fear, and best practice care for people living with a life limiting condition are in place.
