Election promise of additional $45 million for palliative care services confirmed in 2019-20 NSW Budget

Palliative Care NSW is pleased to to see confirmation of the election promise to inject $45 million over four years for palliative care in NSW in the 2019-20 Budget.

This funding will employ an additional 100 palliative care nurses, Aboriginal health workers, digital health support and be used for refurbishing wards and facilities throughout NSW.

‘We are pleased to see the ongoing support for palliative care services in NSW as demonstrated in this budget’ said the Executive Officer of NSW, Linda Hansen.

‘It is also pleasing to see that the commitment includes increasing the number of Aboriginal Health Workers and supporting digital health solutions for those living in rural and remote NSW’, she said.

‘More support for young people and for much needed refurbishment projects are a very welcome part of the announcement and we are pleased to see the government’s response to the growing need in our community for more choice for people approaching and reaching the end of their lives’.
