Dying to Know Day 2025: Nobody Knows

Dying to Know Day is back on Friday, August 8, 2025 with a bold mission: to spark honest, empowering conversations about end-of-life planning. This national campaign encourages all Australians to approach the inevitable not with fear, but with purpose, love, and a deep sense of legacy.

This year’s theme, Nobody Knows, takes an irreverent approach to a serious truth: if you don’t share your end-of-life wishes, your loved ones are left to guess. The result? Confusion, conflict, and missed opportunities for care that truly reflects your values. At the heart of the campaign Nobody Knows is a simple but powerful call to action: The Secret I’m Glad I Shared. Because if nobody knows your final wishes, they never will.

In 2025, the campaign also shines a spotlight on the importance of intergenerational conversations. According to a 2022 YouGov survey, only 53% of Australians feel comfortable discussing end-of-life matters with a family member. Dying to Know Day offers an opportunity to change that by creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where people of all ages can share their stories and wishes around death, dying, and grief.

Palliative Care NSW (PCNSW) is proud to support this important day and will be participating in several events on Friday, 8 August. Join us as we help raise awareness, provide resources, and empower the community to talk more openly about what matters most.
