This is the vision of Rio’s Legacy charity organisation
Rioโs Legacy is a charity that looks to support and raise funds for children with a terminal illness and their families. The charity was launched after the death of Rio who passed away from a terminal condition.
Rio James Fowler was admitted to hospital after his 3rd presentation to the emergency department on the 9th November 2017 due to reoccurring Gastro. Unfortunately, Rio did not recover and despite 40 nights in hospital, never returned home.
His condition was diagnosed as terminal however he inspired so many people around him with his smile and willingness to never give up.
When his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to an end of life / respite hospice for Children, The Bear Cottage located at Manly, NSW Australia.

For the first time ever Rioโs Legacy has teamed up with City2Surf to help fundraise and support children with a life โ limiting condition and their families.
The City2Surf- The Worldโs Largest Fun Run- is happening in Sydney on Sunday 14th August 2022
