Palliative Care Australia has unveiled the 33 finalists for the 2025 Live Well, Die Well Art Prize, a national initiative that celebrates creative reflections on living, dying, and grieving well.
Proudly supported by Arcare, the prize invites artists from across Australia to explore themes of mortality, compassion, and care through powerful visual storytelling. This year’s finalists were chosen from a deeply moving and diverse collection of entries, each capturing the emotional depth and shared humanity at the heart of palliative care.
Among the 33 finalists, 8 artists from New South Wales have been recognised:
- Alana Beveridge – The Perfect Manicure (Oil on Canvas)
- Anu Kakwani – With Love and Admiration and Awe (Oil on Canvas)
- Emma Lohmann – A Kiss for my Mother (Sanguine chalk pencil on paper)
- Heidi Principe – Absorbed by the Light (Painting)
- Maggie Stein – The Long Goodbye, Wrapped in Love (Mixed Media)
- Sarah Polkinghorne – Letters from Joan (Painting)
- Vicki White – ‘Tethered To Earth’ 2024 (Photopolymer photogravure etching on paper)
- Zimmi Forest – Glenns Living Wake – weaving his coffin (Photograph)

The winners of the 2025 Live Well, Die Well Art Prize will be announced at 6.30pm on Tuesday, 9 September 2025, coinciding with the Oceanic Palliative Care Conference.
