Registered nurses in New South Wales nursing homes (Inquiry)

In response to the to the efforts of many in highlighting the issues facing RNs in RACFs in NSW – especially as they relate to the provision of quality Palliative Care, essential to ensuring people are able to die 'at home', the NSW Legislative Council has established the ‘Registered nurses in New South Wales nursing homes (Inquiry)’.

This inquiry is a current Legislative Council inquiry conducted by the General Purpose Standing Committee No. 3. This inquiry was established on 25 June 2015 to inquire into and report on registered nurses in New South Wales nursing homes.

Fit for the Future! PCA Conference 1-4 September 2015

From 1 – 4 September 2015, Palliative Care Australia will be holding its 13th Australian Palliative Care Conference, Fit for the Future at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.  Delegates from across Australia and the world will be attending to talk about palliative care in all its dimensions.

Both national and international speakers will focus on three key areas – Exploring; What will the future look like? Recognising; Who is part of our future and Preparing; How do we get ready for that future? We are encouraging all those who have a passion for palliative care to join us as we explore how to ensure palliative care in Australia is Fit for the Future

USyd scholarships in aged and palliative care

The USyd are hosting a scholarship in aged and palliative care donated by the Royal Freemasons’ Benevolent Institution to provide support for two commencing Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students.

Students must be commencing research in the area of aged and palliative care at Sydney Nursing School.

Each of the doctoral research projects will investigate existing and potential new models of end of life care for people living with dementia and caregivers in the community. These research projects are situated within a larger program of research that aims to develop new knowledge and understanding in relation to the care and support needs of older people.

Applications close 14th August 2015.
