Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are underrepresented in palliative and end of life care services and in order to improve access to quality care we need to implement strategies that accommodate their spiritual and cultural beliefs.

With this in mind, Caresearch has launched the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Care Hub to help create equity of access to services. The hub brings together a range of resources and information aimed at helping the health care workforce and carers in providing culturally appropriate palliative care with Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people.

Developed under the guidance of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Reference Group for the Palliative Care Education and Training Collaboration, the hub includes information on

  • Culturally Safe and Responsive Care
  • The Care Journey
  • Patient, Family and Community Journeys
  • Research, Evidence and Practice

Caresearch is a great resource for health professionals and carers looking for the latest information about palliatve care. Go to their website here.
