We thought you might like a short interlude at the end of the week. This beautiful poem is a reflection by a patient of her thoughts and final days, desiring not to be forgotten, neither to forget.

“These days slip away like coins into a slot

I sit here the person, the life, the woman that time forgot

Caught between hospital bays and grey rooms

That speak nothing of the life I’ve had”

Her thought-provoking video encourages us to think about how we would make the most of our, and help others to make the most of their, last 1000 days.

The poem was commissioned by Prof Jane Cummings, Chief Nursing Officer for England. It was written and spoken by poet Molly Case, spoken word artist, writer and nurse. Released March 2017.
