A Snapshot of Palliative Care Volunteering in NSW
In 2014 Palliative Care NSW undertook a mapping of palliative care volunteer services in NSW by face-to-face and telephone interviews. The survey found a total of 38 palliative care volunteer services with about 1,242 volunteers supporting adult and paediatric programs. The ‘Snapshot’ report details the findings, and includes narrative comments from stakeholders reflecting on qualitative elements of their service delivery.
In 2018 we undertook a new detailed study of palliative care volunteers and volunteer management in NSW. The study found that some 44 palliative care volunteer services supported some 1,610 volunteers.
Both “Snapshot” reports (2014 and 2018) were written as part of the Volunteer Support Services Programme hosted by Palliative Care NSW and funded by the NSW Ministry of Health.
