Our passion is improving the quality of life for people in need. Through our network of sub-acute services, HammondCare provides rehabilitation, palliative and supportive care, pain management, mental health care for older people, community care and other vital support services.

About the role

This fixed-term, 3 months part-time 20 hours per week contract (with a possibility of extension) Staff Specialist Palliative Care position can be based in either Greenwich Hospital, Greenwich or Braeside Hospital, Prairiewood and involves assistance with the delivery of inpatient, outpatient and community clinical palliative care services; implementation of and participation in palliative medicine education, research and quality improvement projects; participation in other activities related to the delivery of excellent palliative care.


Duties include

  • Provide demonstrably high-quality specialist Palliative Care services to patients
  • To maintain personal professional competence in Palliative Care
  • To work within healthcare teams and with other senior medical staff in a cooperative and collegiate way, evidencing the Mission, Motivation and Mission-in-Action of HammondCare
  • Undertake teaching of medical students and trainee doctors, and undertake research in Palliative Care as opportunities present

Selection Criteria

  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM) of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality compassionate clinical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in the field of Palliative Medicine
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teams to support and optimize their capacity to deliver services
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement and clinical risk management
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching with experience in both undergraduate, postgraduate students and other staff
  • Demonstrate participation in ongoing professional development and a commitment to education and research
  • Current Drivers Licence valid within NSW
